I’m the first to admit that I’m not the greatest seasonal decorator, I like my home to remain pretty consistent year-round, but there is one exception to that rule: cozy season.
There’s just something about fall decor. Perhaps it’s my innate desire to hibernate or my penchant for pumpkin spice, but there’s nothing I love more than seeing the new fall collections dropping in stores and finding new fall trends to warm up my home.

The biggest fall trends for 2025

Rather than bringing you a hit list of designer forecasts that you then have to go and track down yourself, I wanted to break down the pieces we’ll actually be shopping for and styling in every room for fall.
While fall trends can be fairly predictable – think warm fall colors, autumnal foliage, and plenty of cozy pillows and throws – this year has a fairly distinct flavor for nostalgia…
1. Tapestries

One of the biggest stand-outs from the new season has to be the rise in decorating with tapestries.
Both the McGee & Co. fall collection and Joon Loloi’s fall collection are championing this antique-inspired print, and I’ve seen designers buying into the with wall hangings, rugs, tapestry print pillows, and even furniture for fall.
Shea McGee has been collecting vintage tapestries for years for clients and has finally designed her own woven wall hanging. ‘Unlike traditional wall art, a tapestry adds texture and movement, turning even the simplest corner into something that feels styled and intentional,’ she explains on the Studio McGee blog. ‘Its soft, neutral palette plays beautifully with natural wood, vintage accents, and warm fall tones, while the woven design brings a sense of lived-in beauty and collected charm.’
Whether you go traditional with muted, old-world motifs or modern with abstract shapes and bold color, tapestries are an easy way to make a home cozy for fall.
The Hortensia tapestry was designed by Shea in homage to antique wall hangings she’d previously sourced from Europe. This one has a lush, verdant botanical scene and comes with all the fixings to hang it on the wall.
Gia Francois Tapestry Headboard
For a more modern take, this paneled headboard will provide a real statement in your bedroom or guest space this hosting season. Made from hardwood, it has been covered with comfy foam and a whimsical repeat pattern.
Once Zara Home has jumped on a trend, you know it’s a sure fit for the season ahead. This cotton throw pillow cover has been created with a woven effect contrasting tree print to resemble vintage prints.
2. Retro color schemes

The other big trend I’ve noticed across the fall collections is a clear embrace of retro-inspired color palettes that feel straight out of the ’70s.
Lulu & Georgia’s fall collection is full of these retro color trends like deep ochres, warm chocolate browns, and avocado green. ‘We were inspired by a lot of sleek, modern forms and materiality of the ’70s. There’s velvets, shag, marble, travertine – lots of rich layers to give it a sultry, luxe feel,’ Lulu and Georgia’s Jenna Kincaid tells Homes & Gardens.
On a slightly more affordable note, H&M’s fall collection is also taking us back to the ’70s with a modern-meets-moody and instantly nostalgic offering of pieces like amber glass, checkerboard pillows, and fringe.
The easiest way to try this trend is through accents: think new throw pillows, a shag pile rug, or even accent furniture pieces like an armchair in a rich leather hue or statement velvet.

Made from 100% top-grain leather, this super plush armchair has ‘vintage-inspired good looks’. The curved, comfy silhouette will add a retro charm, while the rich, versatile hue can be styled with any pillows of your choice.

This retro, monochrome checkerboard print is a signature design in the new H&M collection, and reads extra luxurious in this plush velvet throw pillow cover. It’ll certainly bring some color to an old couch or accent chair.
3. Vintage-inspired twists

Another fall trend I’m a huge fan of is the revival of vintage craftsmanship with twisted and braided details.
I first spotted this hand-carved detail in Shea McGee’s fall collection at Target, which features plenty of twists and turns, including the statement Braided Console Table seen above. And other designers have caught on, including Joanna Gaines.
In Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia fall collection – which she describes as ‘a collection that invites you to embrace the balance of old meets new’ – her take on the trend spans across both woodwork and metal work with an offering of delicately turned shelving, candle holders, and accent tables.
These could-be-antique pieces have a tactile, heirloom quality that instantly adds character to a room, no matter how modern the rest of the space feels.
Braided Console Table Walnut
Designed by Shea McGee for Target, this sturdy 60″ console has been crafted with four vintage-inspired chunky, twisted legs and a rich walnut shade. It also boasts a handy bottom shelf for creating displays or adding storage.
Oversized Iron Taper Holder – Small
You’d be pleased to find a piece like this on any thrifting trip. With a unique twisted iron appearance, there are three different sizes to choose from to create a versatile and grand display this fall.
Barley Side Table, Natural Oak
Handcrafted by artisans, this unique side table has been designed with a whimsical braided base that takes its inspiration from 17th-century barley twist pieces to give your living room a timeless charm and natural warmth.
4. Chrome and nickel

Hidden in plain sight among all the warm tones is the chrome decor trend. From sleek lighting to unique decor pieces, adding a pop of unexpected chrome is my favorite new way to instantly modernize a vignette.
The good news is, you don’t need to swap out all your hardware or lighting to get the effect – even a chrome tray on a coffee table or a nickel-framed mirror can bring that polished touch into your home. And if you do want to go bolder, a chrome-legged side table grounds an otherwise warm-toned room with a little modern sheen.
H&M Home’s new-in section might feature a sea of 70s prints and hues, but it’s also where you’ll find the chicest chrome pieces, too. And surprisingly, Shea McGee is also on the silver bandwagon, designing a few vintage-style tableware pieces that are going to see you through the mad rush of hosting at home season.
Clam Shell Serving Dish with Spoon
Unsurprisingly, Shea’s take on chrome leans into coastal decor ideas. This shell-shaped serving dish is going to be the centerpiece of your seasonal table, and is sure to be a conversation piece among your guests.
For more modern decorators, this contemporary mushroom-shaped table lamp is a must-see. Snap up a pair for your nightstands, add to an end table in the living room, or try out a countertop lamp with a chic twist.
Expressionist Nickel Cast Aluminum Drink Table
With a cool and unique nickel patinated finish, this fluid end table was designed as a continuous loop and will bring movement to living spaces that might feel stale come rainy season. Tuck it next to your sofa or reading chair to set down drinks and a candle.
5. Block print florals

The final trend I couldn’t ignore is the rise of block print florals. After a summer that favored stripes, these traditional and cozy floral design adds a charming and timeless layer to a bedroom or living room.
Also making an appearance in Magnolia’s new collection, these nostalgic florals feel like a more grown-up take on the tiny floral trend and work beautifully layered with fall-ready plaids, stripes, and patchwork quilts.
In Crate & Barrel’s fall 2025 drop, which is naturally full of classic fall decor like hyper-real foliage and pumpkins, a homespun detail has been added to this vintage-inspired print. However you style them, these florals bring a lovely warmth that feels perfectly in step with the season.
