Do you like to decorate early for the holidays? Have you felt judged by others for the timing of your decorating? If you responded yes to either of these questions, then you and Tony-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth have something in common.

In fact, a recent survey from HomeGoods showed that although 74% of holiday decorators say that they associate decorating with joy, 60% have received some kind of remark about the timing of their holiday décor. Chenoweth doesn’t think this is right. To eliminate the stigma around early Christmas decorating, the unabashedly holiday-loving actress has teamed up with HomeGoods to inspire early holiday decorators to decorate however and whenever. In Chenoweth’s home, this starts with decorating living room surfaces.

The actress argues that decorators shouldn’t overlook their mantel decor as they break out the Christmas decorations. She tells Homes & Gardens: ‘The mantle can really become a focal point of the room but often it’s left behind. With HomeGoods you can curate an intentionally crafted fireplace display at an incredible value. I start with a European table runner and then mix traditional and glam elements like nutcrackers made in Europe and brass accents. To complete the look, I add lush faux greenery and embellished stockings to give the display a polished and festive feel.’

Living room shelving is another often neglected area that Chenoweth transforms with artfully chosen decor. She states: ‘To elevate my shelving so it doesn’t feel like a catchall of trinkets but a true decor moment, I use affordable marble cake stands to create dimension, displaying different holiday decor like handblown intricately detailed gingerbread accents. I then enhanced the look with glass trees and tapered candlesticks.’

Have you ever been judged for decorating early for the holidays? If so, you’re not alone. Tony-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth has also faced criticism for her early decorating habits.

A recent survey by HomeGoods found that 74% of holiday decorators associate decorating with joy, but 60% have received negative comments about the timing of their holiday décor. Chenoweth believes this stigma is unfair, so she has partnered with HomeGoods to encourage early decorators to embrace their holiday spirit whenever they choose.

Chenoweth’s approach to holiday decorating starts with the living room, focusing on the mantel and shelving. She emphasizes the importance of creating intentional displays with affordable and stylish pieces from HomeGoods.
